In the fast-paced world of logistics and supply chain management, accuracy and compliance in measurements are not just beneficial, they are essential. xDIM Mobile Dimensioning software emerges as a game-changer in this arena, equipped with a critical feature: the Legal for Trade, independent third-party certification. This is a huge bonus for companies operating in states where this certification is required, but also benefits companies who establish the cost for services or hire on the basis of a measurement.

NTEP Certification: Ensuring Measurement Accuracy and Compliance

NTEP, the National Type Evaluation Program, was developed by the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). NTEP is a committee that develops and enforces the requirements and process to gain NTEP Certification. The certification ensures all requirements are met and have been tested and approved by NTEP. The certification confirms to the supplier and consumer that the dimensions provided are accurate and reliable. Additionally, the certification helps prevent a customer being overcharged and the supplier from undercharging from an inaccurate measurement.

xDIM's Qualified Use in Commercial Transactions

Having successfully qualified, xDIM for standard boxes can legally be used for selling, purchasing, exchange, custody transfer, or establishing the cost for services or hire on the basis of a measurement. For example, charging shipping based on packaging size or charging for bulk items based on weight. This mode of xDIM is certified to provide dimensions within half an inch of accuracy.
