What is an RFID/NFC Reader Module?
Radio frequency identification, or RFID, has been a popular data transmission tool for many years. An RFID reader is used to identify uniquely tagged assets, aiding and streamlining workflows in industries like government, healthcare, supply chain, and enterprise. An RFID reader module integrated in a rugged tablet offers two unique benefits: nearly limitless identification options and mitigation of human error.
Limitless Identification Possibilities
An RFID module enables nearly infinite identification and authentication possibilities. Personnel badges can be instantly verified to allow for entry, or denial, into essential areas. Workers simply place their badge near the tablet, enabling radio wave communication between the card’s unique identifier and the integrated RFID reader. The reader confirms the information with a central database, either approving or denying entry. The entry process is streamlined by simultaneously reading proximity and contactless cards, meaning workers can leave their badges inside their wallet or purse. Likewise, automation prevents lines of people forming, as someone searches for their badge, for example.
Mitigate Human Error
An integrated RFID module also eliminates the possibility of human error. Tagged items are automatically detected and instantly identified by the information in your database using their unique ID. This eliminates the possibility of human scanning errors and incorrect logging on paper records or spreadsheets, ensuring accurate data.
As a fully integrated solution, the module is one less thing for your workers to carry around and keep track of. Encased inside an ultra-rugged tablet, the module is protected from drops, spills, and other wear-and-tear or harsh environments it may be subjected to.
